On 6 September 2007, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) issued commemorative stamps on the theme "Humanitarian Mail."

Additionally, a special silk cover was issued.

This special silk cover consists of the three United Nations stamp values (90¢, F.s. 1,80 and € 0,75) and the F.s. 1,80 value issued by the Swiss Post and each silk cover is sequentially numbered. The stamps are cancelled with the appropriate first day of issue cancellation from the two postal administrations. The text "Humanitarian Mail" and the logos of both the United Nations and the Universal Postal Union are in gold foil.

Format: The size of the cover is 8 1/8" x 5 1/2" (203 mm x 137 mm).

Over the years, the general mail and the mailing of parcels have been used for humanitarian uses throughout the world to provide support for the needy and to raise funds for all kinds of humanitarian needs. To commemorate the use of mail for humanitarian purposes, the UNPA has decided to commemorate and acknowledge mail used for humanitarian causes through this stamp issue.
